Nels
opened the meeting with introductions.
Steve
reported Darrington Strong has a treasury balance of $**,***.59 with a division
of $*,***.** for Darrington Strong committees, $*,***.** for Friends for Public Use and
$**,***.** for Friends of North Mountain.
Rick
reported Friends of North Mountain has launched a funding page on
Indiegogo. They are working on press releases. He will attend a
trade fair in Bellingham and attended the eagle festival in
Arlington.
Martha
reported Friends for Public Use will be creating an inventory for all concrete bridges & fords on forest roads in the Darrington Ranger District. All bridges & fords will be examined for damage and an estimate for the repairs needed will be assessed. FFPU has been using GoFundMe to raise funds. FFPU is trying to assist finding a company to bid on the down trees on FSR #25 & #27 for a salvage logging.Until these trees are removed these roads & their trails remain inaccessible.
Martha
reported she would like a committee for street planters. Several
members offered to help. She will plant dogwood and fringe trees in
the fall at Dot Park. Rick will check on prices. She is working on
a butterfly garden at the park, with several students.
Steve
reported Friends for North Mountain has joined the Forest Fire
Lookout Association.
Martha
discussed the viability of a worker space in Darrington for community
members to use and share tools to create items that could be sold.
Linda shared that the Senior Center kitchen is commercial grade and
available for rent. A field trip will be organized to go to Bellingham to see their Worker Space at the Foundry.
Gordy
announced there will be an art show and sale at his house, Mar. 12, 10 - 3.
